About Us
Bermuda Water Company proudly serves our commercial and residential customers with water that meets or exceeds all federal and state requirements. Our primary mission is delivering safe, clean water at reasonable rates while providing excellent service.
Our water supply comes from 9 groundwater wells located throughout our service area covering south Bullhead City, Fort Mojave, and north Mohave Valley. We draw from the Lake Mohave Basin, one of northwestern Arizona's nine primary water basins.
Source Water Assessments are maintained by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and available for public review. You can request a copy by contacting the Arizona Source Water Coordinator at (602) 771-4641.
Water Conservation Tips:
- Choose native or drought-resistant plants that require minimal watering
- Group plants with similar water needs into specific "hydrozones"
- Maintain healthy soil to effectively cycle nutrients and retain water
- Apply mulch around plants to reduce evaporation and prevent weed growth
Safe Drinking Water Act Information:
The Safe Drinking Water Act was established in 1974 to ensure all citizens served by public systems receive high-quality water. The EPA sets enforceable standards for health-related contaminants and established programs to protect underground water sources.
Potential Contaminant Sources:
All water sources (tap and bottled) may contain some level of contaminants. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves natural minerals and can pick up substances from animal or human activity, including:
- Microbial contaminants from sewage treatment, septic systems, and wildlife
- Inorganic contaminants like salts and metals (naturally-occurring or from runoff)
- Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture and urban stormwater
- Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes and petroleum production
- Radioactive contaminants that can be naturally-occurring
Some individuals may be more vulnerable to contaminants, including those undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, the elderly, and infants. These individuals should seek advice from healthcare providers.

-
What is the Preservation of Historically Significant Buildings Bylaw?
Enacted in 2004 and administered by the Historical Commission, this bylaw (Article IX, Section 4) protects architecturally and historically significant buildings from demolition. When demolition is requested for buildings 75+ years old, the Building Inspector notifies the Commission to review historical significance. -
How does the historical review process work?
If a building meets specific criteria, a public hearing is scheduled and alternatives to demolition may be explored for up to 9 months. Over 130 Massachusetts communities have similar bylaws with delay periods ranging from 6-18 months. -
Can demolition be permanently prevented?
No, the bylaw cannot prevent demolition indefinitely. After the delay period expires, the demolition permit can be issued. The purpose is to find alternatives to destroying historically significant structures. -
How are buildings classified as historically significant?
A building is considered significant if it's 75+ years old and either: listed on the National Register of Historic Places, included in the Swampscott Historical Commission Survey, or determined by the Massachusetts Historical Commission to be important to local history. -
What happens if demolition occurs without proper permits?
Unauthorized demolition can result in fines up to 10% of property value. Building permits won't be issued for a two-year period except for restoration projects or by Commission agreement.
