Understanding Your Water Source
Your municipal water originates from groundwater sources through 14 wells ranging from 213 to 617 feet deep. These wells draw water from several aquifers including Canal City-Mt. Simon, Tetragram Buried Artesian, Canal City-Wonewoc, Jordan, and Quaternary Water Desk aquifers.
Brooklyn Park is committed to delivering safe, reliable water that meets all federal and state quality requirements. This report aims to inform you about your water supply and ways to protect our valuable water resources. For questions about Brooklyn Park's water, please contact Richard Luckow, Water Treatment Supervisor, at 763-315-8412 or email Richard Luckow. You're also welcome to participate in decisions affecting water quality.
Water Safety Standards
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency establishes safety standards that limit contaminant levels in municipal water, ensuring tap water is generally safe for consumption. Similarly, the FDA regulates bottled water contaminants. It's normal for water—including bottled varieties—to contain trace amounts of certain substances. The presence of these substances doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.
Monitoring Results
This report includes our monitoring results from January 1 to December 31, 2017. We partner with the Minnesota Department of Health to test for over 100 contaminants. Finding small amounts of contaminants is common, as no water supply is entirely free of them. Minnesota's drinking water standards protect residents from substances that could harm their health.
