Our Watershed Protection Initiatives

Brown County Water Utility is collaborating with local authorities to enhance awareness about proper waste disposal practices to safeguard our municipal water sources. We're also partnering with regional agencies and watershed teams to educate residents about water conservation and protection methods.

To protect our hydrant wells, Brown County Water Utility has submitted updated Stage II Wellhead Safety Plan documentation to IDEM. This plan emphasizes community education and spill prevention protocols.

Brown County Water Utility (PSWID IN5207001) conducts regular testing of your municipal water according to Federal and State regulations. Our monitoring results from January through December 2017 show that all samples tested were within Permitted Limits.

We understand that even small amounts of certain constituents may appear in all water supplies, including bottled water. Rest assured that EPA evaluations confirm your water IS SAFE at current measured levels.

In addition to our locally produced water, Brown County Water Utility purchases water from Citizens Water and Jackson County Water Utility, Inc.

    City Hall operates from 8:30am to 4:30pm, except for the Building Department which opens at 7am.
