We're pleased to present this year's Annual Quality Water Report. This document is designed to inform you about the quality of water and services we provide daily. Our constant goal is to deliver safe, reliable water to our community. We strive to continuously improve our water treatment process and protect our valuable water resources.

Our water wells draw from the Lower Rio Grande Aquifer. If you have questions about this report or your water utility, please contact Ernesto Carranza at 575-589-1075. We want our valued customers to be informed about their water supply.

Camino Real Regional Utility Authority routinely monitors for contaminants in your water according to Federal and state regulations. The table shows our monitoring results from January 1 to December 31, 2017. All drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk.

For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, call the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791). Water sources (both tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves natural minerals, sometimes radioactive materials, and can pick up substances from animal or human activity.

These contaminants can include:

• Microbial contaminants (viruses, bacteria) from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
• Inorganic contaminants (salts, metals) that occur naturally or result from urban runoff, industrial/domestic wastewater, oil/gas production, mining, or farming
• Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban runoff, and residential uses
• Organic chemicals from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, runoff, and septic systems
• Radioactive contaminants that can be naturally occurring or result from oil/gas production and mining

To ensure tap water safety, EPA regulations limit certain contaminants in public water systems. FDA regulations establish similar limits for bottled water to provide equal public health protection.
