About Us
We are pleased to present this year's Annual Municipal Water Quality Report. This report aims to inform you about the high-quality water and services we deliver daily. Our mission is to provide you with safe, reliable municipal water while continuously improving our treatment processes and protecting our water resources.
Our water comes from five wells that draw groundwater from the Cohansey Aquifer and the Atlantic City 800 Foot Sands. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has completed a Source Water Assessment Report for our public water system, available at WWW.Country.Nj.Us/dep/swap or by contacting NJDEP's Bureau of Safe Drinking Water at (609) 292-5550.
Certain individuals may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than the general population. Those with compromised immune systems, including cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, some elderly individuals, and infants may face higher risks. These individuals should consult healthcare providers about their municipal water consumption. The Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791) offers guidelines for reducing infection risks from Cryptosporidium and other microbiological contaminants.
The City of Cape May Water Department regularly monitors contaminants in your water according to Federal and State regulations. Our monitoring data from January 1st to December 31st, 2017 is presented in our annual report, though some information may be older as certain contaminants are tested less frequently when concentrations remain stable.

Cape May Water & Sewer Municipal Water Company and EPACape May Water & Sewer Municipal Water Report Information
In 1998, Cape May completed its pioneering Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment Facility. We became the first facility in our state and surrounding region to implement salt removal technology to provide potable water to our customers and neighboring communities—a tremendously successful initiative that continues today.
Our Administrative office, located on City Hall's second floor, manages all customer communications. James Wolfe handles inquiries about water/sewer billing, meters, consumption, pressure issues, and all meter-related concerns. The City of Cape May maintains over 3,800 water accounts, with payments processed at the government debt office.
Mr. Carl Behrens, Chief Water Treatment Plant Operator/Supervisor, oversees the daily operations of the RO plant and addresses water quality questions from our customers. Our Water Distribution, Metering and Sewer Collection team consists of four dedicated employees who maintain our infrastructure and service.
