The City of Greenfield sources its municipal water supply from the Central Salinas Area Groundwater Basin (SVGB). This aquifer subbasin occupies the central portion of the Salinas Valley, extending from Gonzales in the north to approximately three miles south of Greenfield.

The Oak Avenue Program includes wells #1 and #6, strategically located at 14th Street and Cherry Avenue in the northwest section of town. Water from these wells undergoes treatment with 12.5% sodium hypochlorite before reaching the meter. These wells deliver approximately 2,500 gallons per minute to a 1-million-gallon storage facility and booster pump station at Oak Avenue and 13th Street. Booster pumps then distribute this water throughout the system at 47 PSI.

Additional supply comes from the Corporation Booster Station behind the Corporate Yard on Walnut Avenue and Tenth Street. Well #7 at this location pumps approximately 1,000 gallons per minute into a 1.5-million-gallon storage tank. After treatment with 12.5% sodium hypochlorite, booster pumps distribute this water at 55 PSI, connecting to the main distribution system at Tenth and Pine Avenue.
