The Safe Drinking Water Act of 1996 requires water utilities to provide customers with detailed information about their water quality. The City of Idaho Falls takes pride in its water quality and welcomes this opportunity to share that information with residents.

To ensure water safety and quality, water samples are regularly collected and analyzed. This testing data is provided to and monitored by both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the State of Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). Idaho Falls water consistently meets quality standards, and all test results are maintained by the City's Water Division, DEQ, and EPA.

Idaho Falls obtains its water from nineteen (19) deep wells located throughout the city. These wells draw from the East Snake River Plain Aquifer, which provides naturally high-quality water. A small amount of chlorine is added as a precautionary measure to protect against potential microbial contaminants.

Municipal water (including bottled water) comes from various sources including streams, lakes, rivers, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels across land or underground, it dissolves natural minerals and, in some cases, radioactive materials, and may pick up substances from animal presence or human activity.

Potential contaminants in source water before treatment include:

• Microbial contaminants from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
• Inorganic contaminants like salts and metals, either naturally occurring or from urban runoff, wastewater discharges, oil/gas production, mining, or farming
• Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture and residential uses
• Radioactive contaminants that occur naturally
• Organic chemical contaminants, including synthetic and volatile compounds from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, urban runoff, and septic systems

To ensure tap water safety, EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems. We treat our water according to DEQ and EPA standards. The FDA similarly regulates bottled water for public health protection. All drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain at least small amounts of some contaminants, which doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. 3. Can I temporarily suspend my water service when away?
   Yes, you have two options:
   • Final Bill: Service is disconnected and a final bill is issued. Reestablishing service within 365 days requires paying back minimums or 8 times the minimum (whichever is less).
   • Courtesy Off: Service is temporarily disconnected but minimum bills continue. This option is typically used for vacant properties.
4. Is there a fee for courtesy service disconnection?
   Arizona Water Company provides courtesy turn-on and turn-off service at no charge during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) with three days' advance notice. After-hours service incurs a $35 fee.
5. Who can enroll in SurePay?
   SurePay is available to all residential and commercial customers with accounts in good standing, not subject to existing payment arrangements.
6. What does SurePay enrollment cost?
   Arizona Water Company charges no sign-up or participation fees, though some financial institutions may charge for electronic fund transfers.
7. How will I know when my SurePay enrollment is active?
   Within one or two billing cycles, notice of the first automatic deduction will appear on your water bill. A SurePay notice appears on all bills for active participants. Continue making regular payments until your participation takes effect.

Arizona Water Company employees wear uniforms with visible company identification and drive vehicles displaying the company logo. All employees carry photo ID badges. Staff will never request entry to check water without prior arrangement and only enter homes for requested water audits.
