OUR WATER MEETS ALL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT (EPA) MUNICIPAL WATER REQUIREMENTS

This report aims to provide you with essential information about your water quality and the efforts made by our water system to deliver safe municipal water. The assessment was conducted using data from the most recent U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) required testing and is presented in the following pages. We hope this information helps you better understand what's in your tap water.

IMPORTANT HEALTH INFORMATION

You may have higher vulnerability than the general population to certain microbial contaminants, such as Cryptosporidium, found in municipal water. Infants, some elderly individuals, and those with compromised immune systems—including people undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, individuals on steroid treatments, and those with HIV/AIDS or other immune disorders—may face increased infection risks. We recommend consulting your healthcare provider about your water consumption. Additional guidance on reducing Cryptosporidium infection risk is available from the Safe Municipal Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791.

WATER SOURCE AND ASSESSMENT

City of Lake Jackson serves approximately 27,529 residents. Our water supply comes from 12 groundwater wells and surface water purchased from the Brazosport Water Authority (BWA). We extract water from the Gulf Coast/Chicot Aquifer, while our surface water originates from the Brazos River. TCEQ has completed a source water assessment indicating some of our sources may be susceptible to certain contaminants. Our sampling requirements are based on this susceptibility and previous testing data. For more information about source water assessments and protection efforts, please contact Debbie Webb at the City of Lake Jackson at (979) 415-2680.

City of Lake Jackson Municipal Water Report Information

All municipal water may contain trace contaminants. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. More information about contaminants and potential health effects is available by calling the Environmental Protection Agency's Safe Municipal Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

Contaminants in tap water may cause taste, color, or odor issues that aren't necessarily health concerns. For questions about water taste, smell, or appearance, please contact our system office.

To ensure tap water safety, the EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems. FDA regulations set similar limits for bottled water to provide equivalent public health protection.
