WHERE DO WE GET OUR MUNICIPAL WATER? Midland's water is sourced from the Ogallala and Edwards-Trinity Plateau aquifers in Martin County (Paul Davis System), Loving and Winkler Counties (T-Bar), as well as surface water resources managed by the Colorado River Municipal Water District (CRMWD): Lakes J.B. Thomas, O.H. Ivie, and E.V. Spence.

The TCEQ has completed assessments of Midland's source water, indicating that several sources may be vulnerable to certain contaminants. The city's water sampling requirements are based on this vulnerability assessment and previous data. Any detected contaminants are documented in this Consumer Confident Report.

For source water information, contact Carl Craigo, P.E. Assistant Utilities Director at 432-685-7260. Additional source water details are available through Drinking Water Watch at: http://dww2.Tceq.Texas.Gov/DWW/

As required by state regulations, we must inform you that the City of Midland water system is experiencing a water loss of 6.43 percent. This loss occurs due to factors including evaporation, system leaks, and meter accuracy issues.

CURRENT WATERING SCHEDULE: Midland residents and businesses are permitted to water outdoors twice weekly. Even-numbered addresses may water on Saturdays and Wednesdays, while odd-numbered addresses may water on Fridays and Tuesdays. Learn more about current restrictions at midlandtexas.gov/outdoorwatering.

WATER QUALITY INFORMATION: All drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 800-426-4791.

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS: Individuals with compromised immune systems (cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, elderly persons, and infants) may be particularly vulnerable to certain infections. These individuals should seek advice about drinking water from their healthcare providers. EPA/CDC guidelines on reducing the risk of Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminant exposure are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 800-426-4791.

LEAD AWARENESS: Elevated lead levels can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead typically enters drinking water from service line materials and home plumbing components. To minimize potential exposure, flush your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. For information about lead in drinking water, testing methods, and steps to reduce exposure, visit http://www.Epa.Gov/safewater/lead or call the Safe Drinking Water Hotline.

WATER HARDNESS: Many substances commonly found in water (calcium, sodium, iron) can cause taste, color, and odor issues. These secondary constituents are regulated by Texas, not the EPA, and don't present health concerns.

SEWER SYSTEM GUIDANCE: Please don't flush items that harden in pipes, including fats, oils, greases, and wipes. These materials can solidify in your plumbing or city sewer lines, potentially causing backups in your home or neighborhood. Medication disposal should occur at designated take-back events rather than flushing.

PROPER DISPOSAL: Personal care items like floss, cotton swabs, and wipes should never be flushed, even if labeled "flushable." Many of these products contain plastic fibers that don't break down quickly, causing clogs in your sewer line.
