City of Parlier Municipal Water Report Info

In 1876, the I.N. Parlier family relocated from Springfield, Illinois to what is now Parlier. The family name derives from their French heritage, DeParlier. The Parlier family established a General Store, Trading Post, and Post Office that became the town's center.

Initially, small family-run wheat farms dominated the area. Over time, wheat cultivation gave way to grapes, raisins and tree fruits - agricultural products that Parlier continues to produce for global markets today. Enhanced irrigation systems and railway connections helped Parlier establish itself as a regional hub.

Incorporated in 1921, the City of Parlier sits in the heart of the fertile San Joaquin Valley with approximately 12,167 residents. Ideally situated in central California, Parlier is 210 miles north of Los Angeles and 199 miles south of San Francisco. From its agricultural beginnings to its current diversified economy, Parlier continues steady growth by leveraging its position in the emerging economy.
