About Us
From the General Administrator of Canyon Lake Shores Water:
We invite you to review our 2017 Consumer Confidence Article. We take pride in our environmental stewardship and commitment to providing safe, reliable water to our community. Water quality begins with the source - generally, ground water contains more natural minerals than surface water, while surface water typically requires filtration to remove organic substances.
CLWSC utilizes both ground and surface water sources. Regardless of origin, we disinfect all water with chlorine and maintain appropriate residual levels throughout our distribution system to ensure safety. Beyond disinfection, we conduct extensive ongoing testing to verify water quality.
In 2017, we tested for over 190 regulated and unregulated constituents. Many aren't listed in this report because they weren't detected. For those that are included, you'll see their highest and lowest detection values. It's important to understand that detecting a substance doesn't necessarily indicate unsafe water - natural water sources contain various naturally occurring elements at levels that pose no health risks.
In 2016, we began the second round of sampling under the Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2). This EPA program requires systems treating surface water to conduct monthly sampling for Cryptosporidium and E-coli over 24 consecutive months through 2018. Results have been favorable with no Cryptosporidium detected.
The 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act amendments included the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Regulation (UCMR). Every five years, the EPA identifies up to 40 unregulated contaminants for monitoring by public water systems. The fourth UCMR monitoring round begins in 2018 and continues through 2020.
These are just some ways CLWSC works to maintain water safety in our community. We remain proactive in ensuring quality water for all customers.

About SJWTX, DBA Canyon Lake Water Service Company
Canyon Lake Water Service Company is a state-regulated investor-owned utility providing water service to approximately 36,000 residents through more than 13,400 connections across Comal and southern Blanco Counties. On May 31, 2006, the utility became part of SJW Group when SJWTX, Inc. acquired Canyon Lake Water Supply Corporation. SJW Group is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol SJW. While the name changed, CLWSC's rich history and commitment to exceptional customer service remain unchanged.
History
The original Canyon Lake Water Supply Corporation was established in 1994 as a member-owned non-profit water utility, consolidating 46 separate groundwater systems. Residents of these independent systems relied on Trinity Aquifer wells that produced insufficient water to meet summer peak demands. The Supply Corporation founders recognized that groundwater alone couldn't support the growing community's needs and that centralized surface water treatment plants would enable delivery of Canyon Lake water to Comal County residents.
Since the 2006 acquisition, CLWSC has grown from approximately 6,000 connections to over 13,400 through acquisitions of neighboring systems, new development expansion, and organic growth in existing subdivisions.
Service Area
Canyon Lake is situated on the Guadalupe River in the Texas Hill Country. CLWSC serves approximately 250 square miles within Comal County and southern Blanco County. The system includes over 590 miles of pipelines, three surface water treatment plants, and more than forty active wells throughout the network. The Canyon Lake community continues to evolve with new developments and diverse demographics, driving growth in housing, schools, parks, businesses, and service industries. CLWSC also operates three wastewater treatment facilities with a fourth under construction, all in Comal County.
