About Us
This spring, all residential and commercial water meters in Elyria will be upgraded with state-of-the-art reading technology. The city has partnered with Neptune Equipment Corp. (NECO), a respected Iowa-based family business with decades of experience installing millions of meters nationwide.
This upgrade brings multiple benefits to our community, including improved service reliability and billing accuracy. The new meters feature built-in radio transmitters that communicate readings directly to customer service headquarters, creating a more efficient system with consistent billing practices.
These advanced meters allow for daily readings throughout the year, enabling earlier detection of potential issues while reducing the need for on-site visits and service disruptions. The best part? This upgrade comes at no cost to residents.
When the replacement project begins, homeowners will receive detailed instructions about scheduling installation with NECO. The process requires approximately one hour of access to your property, with an adult (18+ years) present during installation. The upgrade is mandatory, but representatives will work with you to find a convenient appointment time.
We'll keep everyone informed about the timeline through text messages, postcards, social media, and informational videos. Please share this information with friends and family in Elyria.
ELYRIA WATER POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD: The board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 10:30 AM in the 3rd Floor Conference Room at City Hall (131 Court Street, Downtown Elyria). For questions, contact the Superintendent of the Elyria Sewage Pollution Control Plant at (440)366-2211 ext. 5100.
