Tennessee Water Utility Companies

The City of Franklin Water Department is committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of our vital above and below ground assets and infrastructure. We face significant challenges with aging facilities that impact water quality, requiring ongoing improvements to maintain the high standards our community expects today and in the future.

During the past year, we've continued implementing our "Asset Management Plan"/Financial Efficiency Report to ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair of Franklin's public water system. Currently, our cost to pump, filter, store, distribute and manage the system is approximately $6.45 per 748 gallons of clean, safe water—which also provides essential fire protection services.

When considering the value of reliable water service that safeguards public health, supports firefighting capabilities, facilitates business operations, and enhances our quality of life, our municipal water truly represents an exceptional value. Our infrastructure includes 2,424 service connections, 52 miles of distribution lines, five storage tanks across three pressure zones, a Water Treatment Plant, three groundwater well fields, four full-time staff members, specialized vehicles (two standard, two dump trucks, one service truck), a backhoe, and our Repair Garage/Storage Yard.

Franklin Water Department Municipal Water Report Information

The City of Franklin is steeped in New Hampshire's historic roots. Our strong municipal focus and dedication to community service originated from Daniel Webster's Family Homestead and farm—one of America's greatest statesmen. Located at the meeting point of the Pemigewasset and Winnipesaukee Rivers, which form the headwaters of the Merrimack River, our city began its economic journey with manufacturing operations powered by these waterways.

These same rivers, alongside Webster Lake, create the natural landscape cherished by both residents and visitors. The historic character of Franklin's downtown was established by the mill locations, the construction of Memorial (City) Hall, the Public Library (funded by Andrew Carnegie), and the creation of Odell Park, which provides recreational opportunities for all citizens.
