About Us
In 2005, PADEP completed a Source Water Assessment of HSWA's water resources. The assessment identified that our water sources are potentially vulnerable to accidents and spills along transportation routes within the assessment area, as well as nonpoint source contamination from residential areas, pesticide usage, and historical mining operations.
Overall, our sources have a moderate risk of significant contamination. Summary information from the Assessment is available by contacting the HSWA Office and can be found on the PADEP website at http://www.dep.state.pa.us (search for "DEP supply water").
Complete reports were distributed to municipalities, water suppliers, local planning agencies, and PADEP offices. Full assessment reports are available for review at the PADEP Southwest Regional Office, Data Management Unit (412-442-4000).
