About Us
This report aims to provide essential information about your municipal water and Jonah Water Special Utility District (SUD)'s efforts to deliver safe water supplies. Throughout the years, we've committed ourselves to producing water that meets all state and federal standards. We constantly work to overcome the challenges of providing high-quality water while managing our growing population within our CCN (Certificate of Convenience and Necessity).
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIES
You're invited to participate in our public forum and learn more about your water utility at our monthly Board meetings. We gather on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at 4050 FM 1660, Hutto, Texas 78634.
WATER SOURCES
Our water comes from both groundwater and surface water sources. The groundwater is drawn from Edwards and associated limestones (Balcones Fault), while surface water comes from the East Williamson County Regional Water System.
ABOUT MUNICIPAL WATER SOURCES
Municipal water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land surfaces or through soil, it dissolves naturally occurring minerals and sometimes radioactive materials. It can also pick up substances from animal presence or human activity.
HEALTH INFORMATION
All water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain small amounts of contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For information about contaminants and potential health effects, call the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791.
VULNERABLE POPULATIONS
Some people may be more vulnerable than others to certain microbial contaminants like Cryptosporidium. Infants, elderly individuals, and immunocompromised persons (such as those undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplants, steroid treatment, or with HIV/AIDS) may face increased infection risks. Consult with healthcare providers about drinking water precautions. Guidelines for reducing Cryptosporidium infection risk are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800)426-4781.
FLUORIDE NOTICE
This is an advisory about your municipal water and a dental issue that might affect children under 9 years old. At low levels, fluoride helps prevent cavities, but children drinking water with more than 2 milligrams per liter (mg/L) of fluoride may develop cosmetic discoloration of permanent teeth (dental fluorosis). The water provided by Jonah Water SUD has a fluoride concentration of 3.46 mg/L.
