LCWSC strives to provide quality water throughout Laurens County at competitive rates while maintaining and upgrading its infrastructure to ensure safe municipal water. Unlike many water providers, LCWSC faces unique challenges serving our community.

As a rural water system, LCWSC must install extensive water lines through sparsely populated county regions (see Service Area map PDF). This requires greater investment to serve fewer customers compared to densely populated municipal systems. Additionally, LCWSC must continuously negotiate water rates with our suppliers.

The LCWSC system was constructed during a period of reduced federal funding for such projects, resulting in higher debt obligations than many municipal systems. Unfortunately, this combination of debt and customer distribution typically necessitates higher water rates than larger urban areas, though we work diligently to keep your costs reasonable. We believe growing rural communities deserve reliable public water systems. Our plans for line extensions and improvements will deliver water to more areas while enhancing the county's appeal for industrial and commercial development. These upgrades also improve fire safety and can reduce homeowner insurance premiums through the addition of more fire hydrants.
