We're proud to present this year's Annual Water Quality Report. This document outlines the quality water and services we deliver to our community daily. Our mission is to comply with all Federal and State requirements to provide you with safe, reliable water. We want to share the ongoing efforts we make to enhance our water treatment processes and protect our valuable water sources.

Our primary water source is groundwater drawn from wells tapping the Floridan Aquifer. The water undergoes chlorination for disinfection before distribution to customers. In 2017, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection conducted a Source Water Assessment of our system, finding no potential contamination sources near our wells. Assessment results are available at http://www.Dep.Kingdom.Fl.Us/swapp.

If you have questions about this report or our water services, please contact our utility office at (352) 259-2802. As of December 31, 2017, the Little Sumter Service Area's Water System served 13,422 connections and routinely monitors for contaminants according to Federal and State regulations. This report reflects monitoring results from January 1 to December 31, 2017, with some earlier data included as required by regulations.

Key terms to understand water quality reports include:

  • Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL): Highest allowable contaminant level in drinking water
  • Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG): Contaminant level below which there's no known health risk
  • Action Level (AL): Contaminant concentration triggering treatment requirements
  • Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level (MRDL): Highest allowed disinfectant level
  • Parts per million (ppm)/Parts per billion (ppb): Measurement units for water contaminants
  • Picocurie per liter (pCi/L): Measure of radioactivity in water
