Eric Phillips has served as the Marysville Economic Development Director since February 2001. The City of Marysville partners with Union County Commissioners to deliver economic development services throughout the area.

Mr. Phillips functions as the Executive Director of the Community Improvement Corporation, overseeing business retention, expansion, marketing, workforce development, and infrastructure enhancement to support economic growth. He also serves as Executive Director of the Marysville-Union County Port Authority, which provides various financing structures for business development projects.

Active in regional leadership, Mr. Phillips participates in organizations including the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) as Past Chair, Columbus 2020 Board of Directors as Secretary, and the Mid-Ohio Development Exchange (MODE) Board. His regional leadership was recognized in 2014 when MORPC presented him with the William H. Anderson Award for outstanding Board service.

Throughout his 15-year tenure, Mr. Phillips has led numerous economic initiatives including community strategy revisions, development of county-wide incentive policies, creation of a regional bikeway plan, acquisition of job-ready sites, securing over $7M in grants, implementing workforce strategies, and collaborating with businesses to attract investment and jobs.

Mr. Phillips holds a Bachelor's Degree from Muskingum College, a Master's in City and Regional Planning, and a Master of Art in Public Policy and Management from The Ohio State University.
