Distribution mains (pipes) transport water to homes, businesses, and hydrants throughout our community. While water entering these distribution networks is high quality, water quality can deteriorate in parts of the system over time.

Water main flushing is crucial for maintaining water quality by:

• Removing sediments like iron and manganese that affect taste, clarity, and color
• Eliminating stagnant water where microorganisms might grow
• Ensuring fresh water with proper oxygen and disinfectant levels

During flushing in your neighborhood, temporary water quality issues may occur. If you use tap water during this time, run cold water for several minutes before use and avoid hot water to prevent sediment buildup in your hot water tank.

Lead in Residential Plumbing: Elevated lead levels pose serious health risks, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead typically comes from materials in service lines and home plumbing fixtures. While we provide quality water, we cannot control plumbing component materials.

If water has been sitting unused for hours, flush your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. If concerned about lead, consider water testing. When should I call 9-1-1?

Only call 9-1-1 in genuine emergencies when:

• There's an immediate threat to life or property
• You witness a crime in progress or just occurred (within 15 minutes)
• You need immediate fire department or ambulance response

What are the Police Department hours?

The police department is available by phone 24/7/365. Contact the non-emergency number at 303-980-7300, or dial 911 for emergencies. After hours visitors can use the red phone in the city hall vestibule.

How do I get fingerprinted?

The Golden Police Department offers fingerprinting services on Wednesdays by appointment for residents who live or work within city limits. Call 303-384-8045 to schedule.

How do I obtain police or crash reports?

Police reports must be requested and collected in person at the police records department (911 10th Street, Golden, CO 80401) during regular business hours.

How can I participate in a Ride-Along with an officer?

Ride-alongs can be requested once every 6 months. Forms are available in-person at the dispatch center (911 10th St) or online.

Can police help with locked keys in my car?

Unfortunately, officers don't carry equipment to unlock vehicles.
