Ohio Water Utility Companies

We're proud to present this year's Consumer Confidence Report outlining the quality of water and services we provide daily. Our mission is to deliver safe, reliable municipal water to our community. Over 90% of Pike Water's supply comes from groundwater wells located across State Route 104 from our treatment plant north of Jasper. The remaining portion is purchased from Ross County Water.

Health Information for Vulnerable Populations
Certain individuals may have increased vulnerability to water contaminants compared to the general population. This includes people undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, individuals with HIV/AIDS or immune disorders, elderly residents, and infants. These individuals should seek advice about municipal water consumption from healthcare providers. Guidelines for reducing infection risk from cryptosporidium and other microbiological contaminants are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

Potential Contamination Sources
Municipal water sources—including tap and bottled water—come from rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels across land or underground, it dissolves natural minerals and, in some cases, radioactive materials, while also potentially collecting substances from animal or human activities. Possible contaminants include:

  • Microbial contaminants (viruses, bacteria) from sewage treatment, septic systems, agricultural operations
  • Inorganic contaminants (salts, metals) from urban runoff, industrial discharge, farming
  • Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban runoff, residential use
  • Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations
  • Radioactive contaminants from natural sources or mining and energy production

EPA regulations limit contaminant levels in public water systems, while FDA establishes similar protections for bottled water. All municipal water naturally contains small amounts of some contaminants. For information about potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

If you'd like to know which specific water system serves your location or have questions about this report, please contact our office Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at 740-947-2524 or toll-free at 888-863-5000. Pike Water Incorporated regularly tests for contaminants according to Federal and State regulations. Some data may be from 2016 due to monitoring frequency requirements.
