Van Wert City Municipal Water Report Info

The Water Distribution Department manages installation and maintenance of water lines running from the Water Treatment Plant in southern Van Wert to residential water meters. Water infrastructure beyond the meter is privately owned by homeowners.

The distribution system begins with 14-inch and 16-inch main lines from the treatment facility. A network of 12-inch to 16-inch pipes between Washington and Jefferson Streets transports water to the north end water tower, which stores 500,000 gallons. A 16-inch line connects from this tower to a 12-inch pipe along Bonnewitz Avenue, extending south to Eaton Corporation. The Vision Industrial Park connects to this system through a 12-inch main.

A second water tower holding 400,000 gallons is located in southwest Van Wert. Both towers help maintain consistent water pressure averaging 60 psi throughout the system.

During the 1980s and 1990s, additional water mains were installed around the city perimeter to ensure adequate pressure for future growth. These include a 12-inch line down Fox Road connecting to a 10-inch line on Industrial Drive, continuing up South Shannon Street to Ervin Road. Another 10-inch line runs north along the airport property, connecting to the 12-inch line at West Main Street. An additional 12-inch line extends to the southeast corner of Van Wert at Ervin and Jennings Road.
