Our water source comes entirely from groundwater. In 2017, North Kingstown Water operated eleven municipal wells drawing from the Hunt-Annaquatucket-Pettaquamscutt (HAP) aquifer system. Our average daily usage was 2.85 million gallons. The HAP system has been designated a "Sole Source Aquifer" by the EPA, meaning no alternative drinking water source exists.
The North Kingstown Division of Water Supply regularly tests for over 100 substances as required by Federal and State regulations. These include both regulated constituents with enforceable Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) and unregulated substances with health advisory guidelines. This report covers monitoring from January 1 through December 31, 2017.
