Alabama Water Utility Companies

We're pleased to present this year's Annual Quality Water Report. This document aims to inform you about the high-quality water and services we provide daily. Our ongoing mission is to deliver safe, reliable water to your home. We continuously strive to enhance our treatment processes and protect our valuable water resources.

Our water comes from seven groundwater wells: one from the Clayton aquifer, two from the Tuscaloosa aquifer, and four from the Ripley aquifer. These wells are strategically located throughout Pike County at Carter Well (US Hwy 29 South), Orion Well (County Road 7715), Sand Field Well (County Road 6611), Enon Well (County Road 6631), Spring Hill Well (County Road 2262), Crawley Well (US Hwy 29 South), and Mt. Carmel Well (County Road 5520).

The water we supply requires minimal treatment, with chlorine added solely for disinfection purposes. Our Source Water Protection Plan and Well Head Protection Plan, available at our office, provide detailed information about potential contamination sources. We're proud to confirm our municipal water meets all federal and state safety requirements.

For questions about this report or our services, please contact Brandy Hand at 334-566-1933. We encourage our valued customers to stay informed about their water utility. You're welcome to attend our regularly scheduled meetings held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 5:30 PM at our office (13102 US Hwy 231, Troy).

Some individuals may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than the general population, including cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS or immune system disorders, some elderly individuals, and infants. If you fall into these categories, please consult your healthcare provider regarding your drinking water consumption.

We comply with the Total Coliform Rule, which requires water systems to meet strict limits for coliform bacteria. While these bacteria are typically harmless, their presence may indicate disease-causing organisms in the water supply. Follow-up testing ensures harmful bacteria aren't present, and we've increased chlorine levels in our distribution system to maintain compliance.

If you're concerned about lead exposure, particularly important for pregnant women and young children, please note that lead typically comes from materials in service lines and home plumbing. While Pike County Water Authority provides high-quality water, we can't control the materials used in household plumbing components. You can reduce potential lead exposure by running your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking when it has been sitting for several hours.
