The Jacksonville Water Functions, Gas & Sewer Board is pleased to present our 2016 CCR Water Quality Report. This document aims to keep you informed about the quality of water delivered to your home daily. We want to share our efforts to enhance treatment processes and protect our water sources.

Our primary water supplies come from water wells that draw fresh water from Big Springs and Germania Springs. Additionally, we purchase water from the Anniston Water Works and Sewer Board, which is sourced from Coldwater Springs.

To strengthen our commitment to safety, we've completed a Vulnerabilities Assessment and Emergency Response Plan. These measures help improve our preparedness against potential disruptions to our water supply, whether from natural disasters or intentional acts.

Jacksonville Water Functions, Gas & Sewer Board continuously monitors contaminants in your water as required by Federal and State regulations. We can confidently report that our water meets all Federal and State safety requirements and is safe for consumption.

If you have questions about water quality, please contact Mr. Chris Patterson, Water Plant Manager at (256) 435-9551. You're also welcome to attend our monthly meetings, held the third Monday of each month at 330 Church Avenue at 5:00 p.m.

The data tables in this report show monitoring results from January 1 to December 31, 2016. Federal and State regulations require that 90% of distribution samples for Lead and Copper be below the MCL. During the last monitoring period, all of Jacksonville's distribution samples were below the MCL, which we're very proud of.

It's normal for some contaminants to be present in water due to treatment processes or natural water flow. All water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

Water sources (both tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and radioactive material and can pick up substances from animal presence or human activities.

Jacksonville Utilities Municipal Water Report Info

Jacksonville's utility infrastructure includes various essential services. While Alabama Power Company, a subsidiary of the Southern Company, provides electrical service to the City of Jacksonville, the community is fortunate to have abundant water resources.

Two primary water sources serve the city: Germania Springs and Big Springs, which together produce an impressive average flow of 1.5 million gallons daily. Both springs are renowned for their exceptional water quality throughout the region.

When additional supply is needed, Jacksonville supplements with at least 6 million gallons monthly from Coldwater Springs. Natural gas service is provided by the Jacksonville Utilities Board, while Alabama Gas Corporation (Alagasco) serves much of the surrounding county area.
