All tap water, including bottled water, can reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of certain contaminants. The presence of these substances doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs), listed in our Annual Report, are set at very conservative levels for your protection.

To understand potential health effects of regulated substances, a person would need to consume 2 liters of water daily at the MCL level for a lifetime to have a one-in-a-million chance of experiencing the described health effect.

Water sources (both tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and radioactive material, and can pick up substances from animal or human activities.

Potential contaminants in source water include:

• Microbial contaminants such as viruses and bacteria from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
• Inorganic contaminants like salts and metals that occur naturally or result from urban runoff, industrial/domestic wastewater discharges, oil/gas production, mining, or farming
• Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, stormwater runoff, and residential uses
• Organic chemical contaminants including synthetic and volatile organics from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, urban stormwater runoff, and septic systems
• Radioactive contaminants that can be naturally occurring or result from oil/gas production and mining

The EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems, while FDA regulations set limits for bottled water. Some individuals may be more vulnerable to contaminants than the general population, including immunocompromised persons (cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, HIV/AIDS patients, elderly individuals, and infants). These at-risk individuals should seek advice about their water consumption from healthcare providers.

EPA/CDC guidelines on reducing infection risk from Cryptosporidium and other microbiological contaminants are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

Based on a study by ADEM with EPA approval, Alabama has a statewide waiver for asbestos and dioxin monitoring, so testing for these contaminants wasn't required.

If present, elevated lead levels can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead in water primarily comes from materials in service lines and home plumbing. While your water supplier provides quality water, they cannot control the components used in plumbing fixtures. When water sits unused for several hours, minimize lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. If concerned about lead, consider having your water tested. Information about lead in drinking water, testing methods, and exposure reduction is available at www.epa.gov/safewater/lead.

1. How do I become a vendor for Market Days? To become a Market Days vendor, you'll need to complete an application (PDF) and submit it with payment. First-time vendors must include their website address or Facebook page on the application or upload photos of their utility. Accepted payment methods include Cash, Check, Master Card, and Visa. For credit card payments, you can complete a Credit Card Authorization Form (PDF) to include with your application. Applications and payments must be mailed to Martha Eighme, 121 S. Velasco, Angleton, TX 77515. Vendor space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. You'll receive email notification upon acceptance.
2. Where is the Market Days show located? Angleton Market Days is held at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds located at: 901 S. Downing, Angleton, TX 77515. The festival features three or four vendor buildings plus outdoor space. Both covered and uncovered booths are available.
3. What booth sizes are available and what are the fees? Indoor booths measure 10 feet by 10 feet and cost $175 per show. Outdoor booth spaces can be up to 10 feet by 20 feet and also cost $175 per show. For availability or more information about booth spaces, please call 979-849-4364, ext. 2111.
4. When are booth fees due? Booth fees must be submitted with your application. You'll receive email notification upon acceptance as a vendor.
5. What are set-up and show hours? Show hours are: Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Gates open 1 hour before show start for vendors. Vendor set-up hours are Friday from 12 to 7 p.m.
6. What are the booth requirements? While not required, backdrops visually separate your booth from others. Tent systems are permitted in all buildings and outdoor areas, providing excellent support for signage, decor and fabric. We understand that product and display needs vary, and encourage creative, inviting booth designs. Please display a booth sign/banner with your name visible from the aisle. Corner placements cannot be guaranteed despite requests. Tables should be covered with floor-length cloths. Booths must be ready at show opening time, and early tear-down is not permitted.
7. Is electricity available for my booth? Electricity is available in buildings and covered pavilion areas at no additional charge. Please indicate on your application if you require power.
