  1. Where is the Building Inspections, Permits, & Code Enforcement Department located and what are the hours of operations? The Building Inspections, Permits, & Code Enforcement Department is located on the main floor of Granbury City Hall, 116 W. Bridge St. Granbury, TX 76048. The phone number is (817) 573-1114. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mailing address is P.O. Box 969, Granbury, Texas 76048.
  2. What types of payment are accepted? We accept checks, cash, credit cards, and online payments.
  3. When is a permit required? Permits are required for new building construction, certain repair work, or alterations to existing structures. Additionally, when a building is renovated or expanded, a permit will be required. New work includes any new construction, commercial or residential, from vacant land to a completed structure. Cosmetic projects like new wallpaper, carpet, paint, cabinets or trim work do not require permits. The Building Inspections website or staff can provide answers about specific projects.
  4. What is a Certificate of Occupancy? A Certificate of Occupancy, or C.O., is needed for all buildings or structures that are occupied or used. When a tenant leases a space, a new C.O. is required. Upon issuance and approval of all required inspections, utilities can be released in the new tenant's name. The C.O. contains owner/tenant information, building address, building area descriptions, intended use, building code verification, and Building Official approval.
  5. When is a Certificate of Occupancy required? A Certificate of Occupancy is needed when: 1) A new building is constructed and occupied; 2) An existing building or lease space is renovated, enlarged, or altered; 3) Any new use, tenant, or occupant is established; 4) Any use, tenant, or occupant of any rental space changes; 5) Any tenant "name" or ownership changes; 6) There is a change in use that would place the building in a different occupancy category as referenced in the International Building Code.
