Community Service Anniston Water Works provides more than just water and sewer to local residents. Board members and staff maintain a strong tradition of civic engagement through participation in local organizations including Civitan, Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary and the Associated General Contractors.
AWWSB employees actively serve on various community boards such as United Way, Spirit of Anniston, Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Calhoun County, Calhoun County Achievement Foundation and the Choccolocco Creek Watershed Alliance.
Annually, AWWSB staff volunteer at numerous community events including United Way Day of Action, Noble Street Festival, Cheaha Challenge, Earth Day celebrations, Veterans Day Parade, Habitat for Humanity projects, Renew Our Rivers, and Christmas Angels programs.
Since 1996, Anniston Water Works has proudly adopted two elementary schools—Cobb Elementary and Wellborn Elementary—through the Chamber of Commerce Adopt-a-School initiative, while also supporting the chamber's Class Act Program at Anniston Middle School. This demonstrates AWWSB's commitment not just as a utility provider but as a dedicated community partner investing in local development.
