About Us
At Asotin PUD, water safety is our highest priority. We conduct weekly water sampling from various system points for bacteriological testing, with sample quantity based on our population size served.
Bacteria are naturally occurring microorganisms found in the environment and produced by humans and animals. All bacteriological samples collected in 2017 met or exceeded state and federal water quality standards.
Additionally, federal and state agencies require testing for inorganic substances, disinfection by-products, and synthetic compounds including pesticides and petroleum additives. All samples are analyzed by Washington State certified independent laboratories. Among the numerous state and federally regulated water quality contaminants tested over recent years, only a few showed detectable levels—each below the EPA established Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL). The accompanying table provides these water quality testing results.
