The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), established by Congress in 1974 and amended in 1986 and 1996, creates a federal framework to monitor and enhance the safety of our nation's water supply. This legislation authorizes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to establish health-focused standards protecting against both natural and human-made contaminants.

The EPA's responsibilities include assessing water resources, safeguarding collection systems, ensuring qualified provider treatment, maintaining distribution integrity, and providing public access to water quality information.

The Village of Romeoville conducts extensive testing, analyzing over 1,300 water samples annually for more than 120 different substances. These include microbial organisms, inorganic compounds (including lead and copper), organic compounds (including nitrogen-based herbicides), and radioactive materials.

Our certified team works alongside state and federal regulators to continuously monitor operations, compliance, and testing protocols, ensuring we deliver safe, high-quality water to our customers. This report details the quality of water provided by the Village of Romeoville in 2017, including information about water sources, composition, and regulatory compliance.

For additional information about this report, please contact The Village of Romeoville Public Works Department at (815) 886-1870. El Informe contiene información muy importante acerca de agua que tu bebe. Tradúzcalo ó hable con alguien que lo entienda muy bien.
