About Us
This is your annual water quality assessment covering January 1 through December 31, 2016. Each year, the Village releases this report to inform residents about the quality of our municipal water, its source, treatment methods, and regulated substances it contains.
These reports are issued in compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. For more comprehensive information about our water quality, including test results for unregulated substances, please contact Melissa Olenick at CLCJAWA at 847-295-7788, Round Lake Beach Public Works at 847-546-8752, or visit the CLCJAWA website at www.clcjawa.com.

Our Treatment Process:
Our water is drawn from Lake Michigan and processed at CLCJAWA's Robert M. Neal Water Treatment Facility in Lake Bluff. The advanced filtration system used by CLCJAWA is distinctive. First, water undergoes ozone treatment to eliminate microorganisms and break down contaminants. Ozone is created on-site from air, bubbled into the water, and then converted back to oxygen.
Next, the water is mixed with a coagulant to remove sediment and other materials. After clarification, it passes through filters containing activated carbon and sand. The water then receives ultraviolet light treatment to neutralize any remaining organisms. Finally, the purified water is treated with chlorine for protection during distribution, fluoride for dental health, and a small amount of phosphate - a common food additive that protects against metals like lead and copper from home plumbing systems.
CLCJAWA is a 10-time Excellence in Water Treatment award-winning facility. It was the third facility nationwide to achieve this distinction from the Partnership for Safe Water. This voluntary water quality program, endorsed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, holds its recipients to standards exceeding current municipal water regulations.

The Round Lake Beach municipal water system regularly tests for over 80 contaminants to ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations. These tests help identify potential issues before they affect water quality.
