About Us
Our municipal water comes from the Duck River, which serves as our surface water source. We're committed to protecting our water supply from potential contaminants and work alongside the State to evaluate our water supply's vulnerability to contamination.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has developed a Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP) Report for water systems serving our community. This report classifies public water sources as highly susceptible, moderately susceptible, or slightly susceptible based on geological factors and human activities near the water source. The Shelbyville Water System source has been rated as highly susceptible to potential contamination.
