South Blount County Utility District has proudly delivered reliable water service since 1958. Beginning with just 1,300 customers over 50 years ago, we've expanded to serve more than 15,000 homes, businesses, and schools throughout Blount County, Friendsville, and Louisville—representing approximately 30% of the county's population.
Our service area spans 150 square miles and includes five decentralized wastewater systems. Daily, our customers consume an average of 3.5 million gallons of water. While many take quality tap water for granted, providing this essential service requires significant expertise and dedication.
We manage one of Earth's most precious resources—water—which covers 70% of our planet, yet only 1.6% is freshwater. Our exceptional team at S.B.C.U.D. works diligently to deliver quality service to Blount County, operating on the principle of proactive planning to ensure future readiness.

In summer 2005, we began operating our advanced Water Treatment Facility at the southern end of State Route 129, providing the independence needed to supply our rapidly expanding service area with abundant, reliable water for generations to come. Our Senior Leadership and staff remain committed to meeting customer needs and welcome any questions or concerns.
