Tennessee Water Utility Companies

Our water meets all the health standards established by the State of Tennessee Environmental Protection Agency. As shown in our testing data, only a few contaminants were detected, and all were found to be at safe levels well below regulatory limits.

Water Source Information: Our surface water comes from Tellico Lake. We're committed to protecting this resource from potential contamination and work closely with the State to monitor water quality.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has prepared a Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP) Report for our untreated water resources. This report evaluates vulnerability to potential contamination, rating water sources as reasonably susceptible (high), moderately susceptible (medium) or slightly susceptible (low) based on geological factors and human activities near the water supply. The TASS Water System source is rated as moderately susceptible to potential contamination.

Governance Structure: The TASS Board consists of six Commissioners - three from Monroe County and three from Loudon County. These Commissioners are appointed by their respective County Mayors to serve three-year terms. Board decisions regarding customer complaints can be reviewed by the Utility Management Review Board of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation according to section 7-82-702(7) of Tennessee Code Annotated.
