About Us
Our Municipal Water Meets All Federal EPA Requirements
This report provides an overview of the quality of water we supply to our customers. The assessment utilizes data from the most recent U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) required testing.
Where does our water come from? Our municipal water comes from a surface water source via the City of Mount Pleasant, which originates from Lake Bob Sandlin. The TCEQ has completed a Source Water Assessment for all systems that own their sources. This report outlines the susceptibility and types of constituents that may contact the water source based on human activities and natural conditions.
For more information about source water assessments and protection efforts in our system, contact Aaron Gann, General Manager, at 903-572-3676. Additional details about our water sources are available at: https://www.tceq.texas.gov/gis/swaview or http://dww.tceq.texas.gov/DWW
The table on page two lists all federally regulated or monitored contaminants found in our municipal water. The EPA requires water systems to test for up to 97 contaminants. ALL water may contain some contaminants. When water meets federal standards, there may not be any health-based benefits to purchasing bottled water or point-of-use devices.
Municipal water, including bottled water, can reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate a health risk. More information about contaminants and potential health effects is available by calling the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791.
Secondary Constituents: Secondary constituents (such as calcium, sodium, or iron) commonly found in water may cause taste, color, and odor issues. These taste and odor constituents are regulated by Texas, not the EPA, and don't pose health risks.
Water Sources: Sources of municipal water include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and can pick up substances from animal presence or human activity.
Water Loss: In our water loss audit submitted to the Texas Water Development Board for January-December 2017, our system lost approximately 71,841,884 gallons of water, including leaks and fire department usage. For questions about this report, please call 903-572-3676.

Water District 17 (WCID 17) is a non-profit public utility Water Control and Improvement District established in 1959 through an order from the Travis County Commissioner's Court, Texas, and approved by voters within the initial District boundaries on February 28, 1959.
The District is situated west of Austin in Travis County, Texas, initially covering approximately 4,500 acres. Subsequent land annexations, including Steiner Ranch Defined Area (1987), Comanche Trail Defined Area (1994), Flintrock Falls Defined Area (2000), and Serene Hills Defined Area (2008), have expanded the service area to roughly 15,000 acres.
Approximately 9,399 acres within the District, including the entire Steiner Ranch Defined Area, fall within Austin's extraterritorial jurisdiction. The remaining incorporated acreage lies within Lakeway and Bee Cave's extraterritorial jurisdictions.
WCID 17 meets growing demands by strategically allocating resources to fulfill service commitments. "WCID 17's longevity demonstrates its dedication to providing the Lake Travis South area with reliable water supply while ensuring environmentally responsible development of water resources and wastewater facilities," notes Board President Jeff Roberts. "We're proud of the district's achievements and hope to continue serving the community for years to come."
