The City of Sweetwater utilizes both Surface Water and Ground Water systems. Our water comes from multiple sources including the Dockum Aquifer in Nolan County and the Oak Creek Reservoir in Cola County.
Water sources (both tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels across land or underground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and sometimes radioactive materials, while also potentially collecting substances from animal presence or human activities.
All water, including bottled varieties, typically contains at least small amounts of some contaminants. However, the presence of these substances doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk.
