About Us
The Troy Public Water System (PWS) is pleased to present this report to inform residents about the quality of Troy's municipal water. This report includes general health information, water quality test results from January 1 to December 31, 2017, information on participating in decisions about your water supply, and water system connections.
We maintain a current, unconditioned license to operate our public water system. Our 2017 State of Kansas Public Water System License cost $12,863.24, based on our 11,089 service connections.
Troy's water comes from the Great Miami Buried Valley Aquifer (GMBVA), a massive water-bearing sand and gravel formation along the Great Miami River. The GMBVA extends from north of Troy to the Ohio River, ranging from 30 to 300 feet deep and 1 to 3 miles wide. This aquifer is replenished by underground sources, precipitation, and riverbed filtration.
We operate 10 production wells near the Great Miami River, located in Miami Shores Golf Course and Troy City and County Park. Well water is pumped to our Water Treatment Plant where it undergoes softening, clarification, disinfection, stabilization, and filtration before distribution. In 2017, our finished water averaged 120 parts per million (ppm) hardness and 64 ppm alkalinity, with an average pH of 8.77.
In 2017, our facility provided approximately 1.301 billion gallons of treated water to Troy, Miami County, West Milton, and Ludlow Falls. Our water quality meets or exceeds all standards established by Ohio and the US Environmental Protection Agency.
For more information, contact Jeff Monce, Water Plant Superintendent, or Ralph Walters, Assistant Plant Superintendent, at (937)339-4826, or email: jeff.monce@troyohio.gov or ralph.walters@troyohio.gov.
