About Us
We're pleased to present this year's Annual Quality Water Report. This document aims to inform you about the high-quality water and services we deliver daily. Our primary goal is to provide safe, reliable drinking water. We want to share information about our ongoing efforts to improve water treatment processes and protect our valuable water resources.
Our water comes from wells tapping into the Meridian Upper Wilcox Aquifer. A source water assessment has been completed to determine the susceptibility of our water supply to potential contamination sources. Our wells have received moderate susceptibility ratings.
We regularly test for contaminants according to Federal and State regulations. The table in our full report lists all drinking water contaminants detected between January 1st and December 31st, 2017. When monitoring wasn't required in 2017, we've included the most recent results available.
As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves naturally occurring minerals and can pick up substances from animal or human activity, including:
- Microbial contaminants from sewage treatment, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
- Inorganic contaminants like salts and metals (naturally occurring or from urban runoff, wastewater discharges, oil/gas production)
- Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban runoff, and residential uses
- Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, and septic systems
- Radioactive contaminants that occur naturally or result from oil/gas production and mining
The EPA limits certain contaminants in public water systems to ensure safety. All drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain small amounts of some contaminants, but this doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk.
Our system had no violations, and we're proud that your drinking water meets or exceeds all Federal and State requirements. For those concerned about lead, which can cause serious health problems especially for pregnant women and young children, you can reduce potential exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking.
