North Carolina Water Utility Companies

We are pleased to present this year's Annual Municipal Water Quality Report. This document provides a snapshot of last year's water quality analysis. Here you'll find information about your water sources, what they contain, and how they compare to regulatory standards.

Our continuous goal is to provide you with safe, reliable municipal water. We want to share our ongoing efforts to improve water treatment processes and protect our valuable water resources. We're committed to ensuring quality water and keeping you informed because educated consumers are our greatest allies.

For questions about this report or your water service, please contact The Town of Valdese Water Treatment Plant at (828)879-2127. We encourage our valued customers to stay informed about their water utility. To learn more, attend any of our regularly scheduled Town Council meetings held at Valdese Town Hall on the first Monday of each month at 7 pm.

The water used by our system comes from Lake Rhodhiss, part of The Catawba River System. The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Public Water Supply (PWS) Section, Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP) conducted assessments for all North Carolina municipal water sources. These evaluations determine each source's vulnerability to Potential Contaminant Sources (PCSs). Assessment results are available in SWAP Reports that include maps, historical data, and relative susceptibility ratings of Higher, Moderate or Lower based on contaminant ratings and inherent vulnerability factors.

  1. How do I set up online bill pay or automatic payments?

We offer multiple payment methods including online bill access and automatic bank withdrawals. Visit Pay My Bill for complete information on setting up either payment option.

  2. What payment types do you accept?

We accept unlimited electronic check payments and credit card payments up to $1,000 via Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

  3. Is there a fee for online payments?

No. The District covers all costs associated with the online payment system.

  4. How do I access my online bill pay account?

Previous EBill users are already registered in the system and can log in using their EBill username with their email address as a temporary password. You'll be prompted to change your password upon first login.

  5. What if I forget my online bill pay password?

If you've changed and forgotten your password, you cannot use the "forgot username/password" option. Contact our office by phone or email for account reset. You'll need to "create an account" to re-register due to security question limitations.

  6. Can I make an online payment without creating an account?

Yes. The "Checkout as Guest" option allows payments using your account number.

  7. What is a billing ID and where can I find it?

Your unique Billing ID appears below your account number on your statement. For security reasons, we cannot provide this over the phone.

  8. What should I do if I'm locked out of my online account?

After five incorrect attempts, the system locks your account. Contact our office to be "unlocked" and we'll help determine the cause and find a solution.

  9. How do I set up paperless billing?

In your online account, select "Change your Billing Settings" and toggle the paperless billing option on/off.

  10. How do I set up recurring payments?

In your online account, select "Change your Billing Settings" and toggle the automatic payment option. Your account must have a zero balance before activation.

For property owners with rental properties, we offer notification services to alert you when tenants become delinquent on water bills, helping reduce liability and prevent property liens. State laws allow for perpetual liens on properties with unpaid water and sewer bills.

When property ownership changes, please contact us as soon as possible to schedule a final meter reading. You'll need to provide a forwarding address for your final bill. Title companies should contact us for an Estimated Final Request to ensure clear property title at closing.
