About Us
Welcome to our annual water quality report. We're committed to delivering high-quality municipal water to our community. Our team works diligently to meet new regulatory requirements, protect water sources, conserve resources, and engage with our community through education and outreach.
Thank you for allowing us to serve you and your family. We value your feedback on this report and invite you to participate in our public forums held the first Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at our main building.
Important Health Information
Some individuals may be more vulnerable to certain waterborne contaminants. Infants, elderly persons, and those with compromised immune systems (such as cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, those on steroid treatments, and individuals with HIV/AIDS) should consult their healthcare provider about their drinking water. Guidelines for reducing infection risk from Cryptosporidium are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791.
Water Source and Treatment
Aqua Water Supply Corporation exclusively uses groundwater from the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer. We serve approximately 20,162 active connections through roughly 1,800 miles of pipeline covering a 993-square-mile area. Our system can produce 23.3 million gallons daily from 29 groundwater wells and store 14.5 million gallons in elevated and ground storage tanks.
Potential Contaminants
To ensure safety, the EPA establishes limits on contaminants in public water systems, while FDA regulations set standards for bottled water. All water sources may contain small amounts of various substances, though their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. These may include:
- Microbial contaminants from sewage treatment, septic systems, agricultural operations, or wildlife
- Inorganic contaminants like salts and metals, either naturally occurring or from urban runoff, industrial discharge, or farming
- Pesticides and herbicides from various sources including agriculture and residential uses
- Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, and waste disposal
- Radioactive contaminants, either naturally occurring or from oil/gas production
Our water undergoes comprehensive testing and treatment by licensed professionals with expertise in mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics to ensure it meets all safety standards.
Lead in Household Plumbing
Elevated lead levels can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead typically comes from materials in service lines and home plumbing. While we provide quality water, we cannot control the components used in plumbing fixtures. If your water has been sitting for several hours, minimize lead exposure by running your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. For concerns about lead, consider having your water tested. Information is available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline or at www.epa.gov/safewater/lead.
Water Loss Information
According to our water loss audit submitted to the Texas Water Development Board, our system lost an estimated 528,029,198 gallons of water during the reporting period. For questions about the water loss audit, please contact us.

Aqua Water Supply Corporation Drinking Water Company and EPAAqua Water Supply Corporation Historical Background
Aqua Water Supply Corporation began operations in January 1970 when the U.S. Farmstead and Home Administration provided loans and grants to establish reliable water systems across rural America. Prior to this initiative, residents in Bastrop County often relied on hauled water or rainwater cisterns for their needs. While some community wells existed, water quality varied significantly throughout the region.
From those early days to the present, Aqua's mission has remained constant: providing safe, dependable water to its members.
Today's infrastructure includes:
- 20,021 connections (as of December 2017)
- 1,856.24 miles of pipeline
- 29 water wells with combined capacity of 19,196 gallons per minute
- 25 pump stations with 50,040 gallons per minute total capacity
- 20 pressure planes
- 6 standpipes with 559,000-gallon capacity
- 22 ground storage tanks with total capacity of 7,611,800 gallons
- 23 elevated storage tanks with total capacity of 6,925,000 gallons
- 15,185,800 total gallons of storage capacity
This extensive infrastructure represents a significant investment in long-term planning for our community. Aqua follows a strategic multi-year plan to guide capital investments, ensuring we stay ahead of growth demands to prevent water shortages.
