The Bartow County Water Division is proud to confirm that the municipal water delivered through our system is SAFE! This Water Quality Statement verifies that our water meets or exceeds safety standards established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA).

As scientific knowledge advances regarding environmental impacts on human health, regulatory requirements for water quality continue to evolve. The Bartow County Water Department remains committed to embracing technological advancements and providing comprehensive staff training to meet future standards.

All municipal water, including bottled varieties, can reasonably be expected to contain minimal amounts of certain substances. Water sources inevitably pass over land surfaces or through ground layers, dissolving minerals and materials while potentially collecting substances from animal activity.

Categories of substances potentially present in source water include:

  • Biological - May originate from human, agricultural, or wildlife sources
  • Inorganic - Can be naturally occurring or from stormwater runoff or industrial/domestic discharges
  • Pesticides & Herbicides - Potentially from agricultural or residential stormwater runoff
  • Organic Chemicals - May come from industrial/domestic processes, stormwater runoff, or waste systems
  • Radioactive Elements - Could be naturally occurring or result from mining or human activities

To ensure tap water safety, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency prescribes regulations limiting certain contaminant levels in public water systems. Note: Some individuals may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than the general population. Those with compromised immune systems, including cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, HIV/AIDS patients, certain elderly individuals, and infants may face increased infection risks. Such individuals should consult healthcare providers regarding their municipal water consumption.

Cryptosporidium, a microscopic protozoan parasite potentially present in surface waters, can cause symptoms including diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal cramping. Laboratory testing is required to confirm Cryptosporidium as the cause of such symptoms. Samples of both treated and untreated water from our system have undergone specialized laboratory analysis, and Cryptosporidium has never been detected in the finished water delivered to your tap. EPA/CDC guidelines on reducing infection risks from Cryptosporidium and other microbiological contaminants are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (1-800-426-4791).
