About Us
Broad Creek PSD (BCPSD) is pleased to present this year's Annual Water Quality Report. This document highlights the quality of water and services we provide daily to our community. Our primary goal is maintaining a safe, reliable water supply for all residents.
We're committed to continuous improvement in our water treatment processes and protection of vital water resources. Our wells draw from the Floridan Aquifer and are supplemented with treated surface water purchased from Beaufort-Barioler Water & Sewer Authority, which comes from the Savannah River.
Source water protection plans for our system are available for review through the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control website at www.scdhec.gov/water/Html/srcewtr.HTML. We're proud to report that our water meets all federal and state requirements.
For questions about this report or our water utility, please contact Linda Leader at (843) 785-5016 ext. 208. We encourage our valued customers to stay informed about their water utility. Our regular meetings occur on the second Friday of each month at 9:00 A.M. in the BCPSD conference room.
BCPSD routinely monitors for contaminants in accordance with Federal and local regulations. Our monitoring covers the period from January 1st to December 31st, 2017, unless otherwise noted in our published tables. As water moves across land or underground, it can acquire various substances including microbes, inorganic and organic compounds, and radioactive materials. While all water contains some impurities, their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health concern.

ABOUT BROAD CREEK PUBLIC SERVICE DISTRICT:
Established in August 1973, Broad Creek Public Service District is governed by a Commission of five District residents. Commissioners are selected through nomination by District registered voters for legislative designation of Beaufort County, then forwarded to the South Carolina Governor for appointment. Each Commissioner serves a three-year term with potential reappointment.
The District provides potable water and wastewater treatment for central Hilton Head Island, including areas around Palmetto Dunes, Plantation Center, South Island Square, Chimney Cove, Yacht Cove, Shelter Cove, Shelter Cove Towne Center, and The Plaza at Shelter Cove. We serve approximately 5,200 single-family, multi-family, and commercial properties.
Our infrastructure includes one 2.08 mg capacity wastewater treatment plant, eighteen wastewater pump stations, two wastewater vacuum stations, one water tower, three Floridan Aquifer wells, and a transmission line connecting to Beaufort Jasper Water and Sewer Authority and Hilton Head Public Service District. The District maintains sixty-three miles of water distribution lines and forty-one miles of wastewater collection lines. In addition to customer fees, the District requires a 10 mill tax for operations, which was capped at this maximum rate in 2001 by legislative action.
