About Us
Is my water safe? We're pleased to present this year's Annual Water Quality Report (Consumer Confidence Report) as required by the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). This report provides details about your water source, its contents, and how it compares to standards set by regulatory agencies. It represents a snapshot of last year's water quality. We're committed to providing updated information because informed customers are our greatest allies.
Our water system fully meets all Federal and state regulations for safe municipal water. Some individuals may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than the general population. This includes people undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, individuals with HIV/AIDS or immune disorders, some elderly persons, and infants. These individuals should seek advice from healthcare providers about their municipal water consumption. EPA/CDC guidelines on reducing infection risks from Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available through the Safe Water Drinking Hotline (800-426-4791).
Our municipal water is purchased from Alligator Rural Water (approximately 85%), the Town of Cheraw (approximately 10%), and Anson County Water Systems (approximately 5%). Alligator's water comes from eight wells located at Union Church Road, Sowell Road, US Hwy 1 South, US Hwy 1, US Hwy 151, Old Creek Road, and two additional locations. Anson County's water is surface water from Blewitt Falls Lake, while Cheraw's source is the Pee Dee River.
Municipal water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain small amounts of certain contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. More information about contaminants and potential health effects is available from the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791). Water sources (both tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves naturally occurring minerals and, in some cases, radioactive material, and can pick up substances from animal or human activity.
If you have questions about this report or your water utility, please contact Richard Dixon or Charlie Gray at 843-623-6090. We want our valued members to be informed about their water utility. For more information, please attend our regular meetings held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at our Rural Water Office located at 13598 Hwy 9, Chesterfield, SC.

At Chesterfield County Rural Water Co., Inc., our primary goal is to provide safe, clean, and reliable water service to all our residents! Established in 1968, we operate as a private, not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative. We are independent from state or county government and receive no tax revenue. Our operations rely solely on income collected for water and related services.
CCRWC serves rural Chesterfield County with the exception of the Town of Cheraw, Town of Patrick, and the southwestern portion around the Town of McBee (served by Alligator Water and Sewer Co. at 843-335-6464). We serve the towns of Mt. Croghan and Ruby, including metering and billing services. We provide water to the Town of Chesterfield and manage their water and sewer system. CCRWC also supplies water to Jefferson and Pageland, though they manage their own systems.
Excluding the various towns, CCRWC serves approximately 7,500 active members. Our system includes roughly 1,200 miles of water line covering about 800 square miles. We employ Kellahan Brothers Engineering from Kingstree, SC for system design and engineering, and Phillips, Currin and Company from Hartsville, SC for CPA and auditing services. William O. Spencer, Jr. of the Spencer Law Firm in Chesterfield provides legal services to our company.
CCRWC is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a Chairperson and eight members. Board meetings occur at 6:00 PM on the second Thursday of each month at the CCRWC office. The annual members' meeting is held on the first Saturday of April, with the location announced sixty days prior.
