About Us
The San Gorgonio Integrated Regional Water Management Plan marks a significant milestone for our area. The San Gorgonio IRWM Regional Water Management Group, which includes the City of Banning, Banning Heights Mutual Water Company, Cabazon Water District, High Valleys Water District, Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, and the San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency, has developed this comprehensive plan.
Working together with key stakeholders and community members, we've created a plan that addresses the unique water needs, goals, objectives, strategies and projects specific to our region. This framework guides how we govern, collaborate, and implement water management activities across jurisdictional boundaries.
The plan has been submitted to the California Department of Water Resources for review and approval. You can download the complete plan from the San Gorgonio IRWM website at http://www.sgirwm.org.
Regarding Chromium-6: In May 2017, a California Superior Court judge ruled that the State Water Resources Control Board must withdraw the 10 parts per billion (ppb) Chromium-6 standard and reevaluate it based on economic feasibility. The California Department of Public Health failed to properly consider the economic impact on water providers, leading to this court decision. As of September 11, 2017, the MCL for Chromium-6 is no longer in effect. The City continues to monitor developments on this issue and will provide updates as information becomes available.
