Central Wyoming Regional Water Program (CWRWS) regularly monitors constituents in your municipal water as required by Federal and State regulations. This table presents monitoring results from January 1st to December 31st, 2017.

As water flows across land or underground, it can collect various substances including microbes, inorganic and organic compounds, and radioactive materials. All water, including bottled water, reasonably contains at least minimal amounts of some substances. However, the presence of these substances doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk.

Water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs and wells. During its journey, water may dissolve naturally occurring minerals and sometimes radioactive materials, while also picking up substances from animal presence or human activities.

Your water may contain various substances including:

• Microbial contaminants from sewage treatment facilities, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
• Inorganic contaminants like salts and metals, occurring naturally or from urban runoff, wastewater discharges, oil/gas production, or farming
• Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban stormwater runoff, and residential usage
• Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes, gas stations, urban runoff, and septic systems
• Radioactive contaminants, either naturally occurring or resulting from resource extraction activities

To ensure tap water safety, the EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminant amounts in public water systems. Similarly, the FDA sets limits for contaminants in bottled water to provide equivalent protection.

Understanding water quality terms:

• Non-Detect (ND): Laboratory analysis indicates the constituent isn't detectable
• Parts per million (ppm): One part per million equals one minute in two years or one penny in $10,000
• Parts per billion (ppb): One part per billion equals one minute in 2,000 years or one penny in $10,000,000
• Nephelometric Turbidity Unit (NTU): Measures water clarity
• Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL): The highest allowable level of a contaminant in municipal water
• Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG): The contaminant level below which no known health risks exist
