Important notice for all community public water supply customers: "Certain populations may be more vulnerable than others to specific microbial contaminants, such as Cryptosporidium, in municipal water. Infants, elderly individuals, and immunocompromised persons undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, those on steroid treatments, and people with HIV/AIDS or other immune disorders may face higher risks from infections. Consult your healthcare provider about your water consumption. Additional guidance on reducing Cryptosporidium infection risks is available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791."

Water Source Information
The City of Ennis draws its water from Lake Bardwell, a surface water source. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves natural minerals and can pick up substances from animal presence or human activity. Potential contaminants include:

• Microbial contaminants (viruses, bacteria) from sewage facilities, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
• Inorganic contaminants (salts, metals) from natural sources, urban runoff, wastewater discharges, oil/gas production, mining, or farming
• Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban runoff, and residential usage
• Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, urban runoff, and septic systems
• Radioactive contaminants occurring naturally or resulting from oil/gas production and mining

Water Assessment
The TCEQ has completed an assessment of our source water, finding it susceptible to certain contaminants. Sampling requirements are based on this susceptibility and previous data. Water Quality Information
All municipal water may contain some level of contaminants. EPA regulations limit certain contaminants in public water systems, while FDA regulations establish similar limits for bottled water. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. In our water audit submitted to the Texas Water Development Board for January through December 2016, our system lost approximately 188,109,821 gallons or 16% of total water pumped.
