Special Notice for Vulnerable Populations:
Individuals with weakened immune systems may be more susceptible to certain microbial contaminants like Cryptosporidium. This includes infants, some elderly people, those undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, individuals on steroid treatments, and people with HIV/AIDS or other immune disorders. We recommend consulting your healthcare provider about your tap water consumption. Disinfection Information:
The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) uses Chloramines for disinfection to reduce disinfection byproducts while maintaining protection from waterborne illnesses. Chloramines can affect dialysis patients, potentially causing hemolytic anemia if not properly removed from dialysis water. Medical facilities should ensure proper filtration systems are in place. Additionally, chloraminated water can harm fish - aquarium owners should verify their filters are appropriate for treated water.

Water Quality:
Our municipal water comes from rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and can pick up substances from animal presence or human activity. The NTMWD conducts daily tests on both raw water from Lavon Lake and the treated water delivered to Frisco residents.

Secondary Components:
Components like calcium, sodium, and iron can affect taste, color, and odor but aren't necessarily health concerns. The NTMWD uses ozone for primary disinfection at their Wylie Water Treatment Plants, which helps reduce taste and odor issues common during hot summer months.
