Source water may contain various contaminants, including:

• Microbial contaminants: Viruses and bacteria from sewage treatment facilities, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife.
• Inorganic contaminants: Naturally-occurring metals and minerals, or those from urban runoff, industrial wastewater, oil/gas production, mining, or farming activities.
• Pesticides and herbicides: These originate from agriculture, urban stormwater runoff, and residential usage.
• Organic chemical compounds: Including volatile organic chemicals from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, urban runoff, and septic systems.
• Radioactive elements: Can occur naturally or result from oil/gas production and mining.

The US Environmental Protection Agency and State Water Resources Control Board regulate contaminant levels in public water systems to ensure safety. State regulations also establish comparable safety standards for bottled water. Tables 1-5 in our full report list all water contaminants detected during recent testing. While their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk, monitoring occurs regularly as concentrations rarely change significantly. 1. Where can I find an application for housing?

   If you prefer to reside in government-owned or privatized housing, please access the Housing Early Assistance Tool (HEAT) website. You can reach this tool by visiting the AF Housing Website at https://www.Housing.Af.Mil or the HOMES.Mil website at https://www.Homes.Mil and clicking the "HEAT" logo after selecting your installation. HEAT offers a streamlined online experience and connects you with the Military Housing Office (MHO) before your PCS transfer. This tool also allows you to authorize sharing your contact information with the Privatization Project Owner team to receive direct information. After registration, the MHO will forward your details to the Privatized Housing Management Office (PMO).

   HEAT is available at all AF installations ready to assist when you submit a housing request. Use it to contact your destination's housing office for information and application materials. The MHO will provide relevant installation and community information based on your preferences, including community housing assistance and required documents (like DD Form 1746, AF Form 4422). Each MHO will explain how to return completed documents including your PCS orders copy if available. They'll update you on government-owned housing status based on your projected arrival, or if you requested privatized housing information, the PMO will contact you directly about those options.

2. What housing allowances am I eligible for?

   Military members receive various allowances to ensure smooth transitions to new locations. For detailed allowance information, visit the Defense Travel Management Office website. Contact your local Housing Management Office with specific questions.

3. Where will my kids go to school in my new area?

   For families, school selection is a crucial factor in housing decisions. For specific information about schools in your new location, contact the local Housing Management Office for educational resources.

4. How do I start out-processing from housing?

   Members must provide at least 40 days' notice when terminating government-managed family housing due to PCS, separation, or retirement. For short-notice assignments, contact the Housing Management Office (HMO) immediately to schedule termination inspections. You'll need pre-termination and final inspections of your residence. The pre-termination inspection provides guidance on meeting final inspection requirements. Please provide the HMO with a copy of your orders. They can also help with housing applications for your next installation if you plan to live on base there.
