City of Lathrop Drinking Water Company and CDCFrequently Asked Questions
-
What happens to recycled materials collected at the curb?
Materials collected through the curbside program are transported to a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), where they're sorted by type and bundled for resale to manufacturers. -
How do I find retailers selling the required trash bags?
The City doesn't sell trash bags directly to residents. A list of authorized retailers is available on our website. Residents with curbside collection must use the designated bags to receive service. -
How many recycling carts will my household receive?
Each residence participating in the curbside program receives one 95-gallon recycling cart at no charge. Multi-unit properties (2-4 family) receive one cart per unit. Additional carts can be purchased online or at the Department of Public Works. -
Why isn't shredded paper accepted in recycling?
While previously accepted, shredded paper is now prohibited at our Materials Recovery Facility. Its small size prevents proper sorting and can tangle machinery alongside items like plastic bags and garden hoses, disrupting operations. -
How can I purchase a compost bin?
Compost bins are available for $25 at the DPW Office. For home composting information, visit the Department of Environmental's Waste and Recycling website. -
How do I report infrastructure issues?
For roadway problems, use the City's SeeClickFix application or call the DPW Office at 508-821-1431. For sewer backups in public roadways, contact Veolia at 508-823-3582. Storm drain issues can be reported through SeeClickFix.
