Our municipal water meets or exceeds all federal EPA drinking water requirements. This report provides an overview of the quality of water we deliver to our customers, using data from the most recent EPA-required assessments.

Water Sources
Round Rock residents receive water from both surface and groundwater sources. Approximately 94% comes from Lake Georgetown, with the remainder sourced from the Edwards Aquifer. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has assessed our source water, and results indicate some sources may be susceptible to certain contaminants.

Understanding Contaminants
When water meets federal standards, there may not be health benefits to purchasing bottled water or home treatment devices. All water, including bottled water, may contain small amounts of some contaminants. This doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. Secondary Water Characteristics
Elements like calcium, sodium, and iron can affect taste, color, and odor but aren't health concerns. These secondary constituents are regulated by Texas state standards rather than the EPA.

Water Hardness Information
The average water hardness in Round Rock is 197 mg/L or approximately 11.5 grains per gallon. While this level of hardness may cause minor aesthetic issues like water spots and dry skin, it won't damage plumbing. The city regularly tests water stability to ensure it's neither corrosive nor depositional.

Special Health Concerns
Some individuals may be more vulnerable to certain contaminants, particularly those with compromised immune systems, such as people undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, those on steroid treatments, and people with HIV/AIDS. Water Loss Information
In the water loss audit submitted to the Texas Water Development Board for January-December 2017, our system lost an estimated 188,224,408 gallons of water, approximately 3.25% of total water produced. This includes losses from leaks, theft, and meter errors.
