About Us
The Dallastown Yoe Municipal Authority utilizes surface water as our primary water source. We operate and maintain two impounding reservoirs: one at Cabin Creek in Windsor Township and another at Beaver Creek located in Chanceford and Lower Windsor Townships.
Additionally, we manage a water pumping station situated at the confluence of Greenbranch Creek and the Susquehanna River in Chanceford Township. Under normal circumstances, Cabin Creek serves as our main raw water source. During high demand periods, we utilize a combination of Cabin Creek and Beaver Creek, and during drought conditions, we may need to draw water from all three sources.
A Source Water Assessment of our facilities was completed in 2002 by the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP). The assessment identified potential vulnerability to accidental spills along roadways, underground storage tank leaks, urban stormwater runoff, and agricultural activities. Overall, there is low to moderate risk of significant contamination.
Assessment summaries are available on the PADEP website at www.depweb.state.pa.us (search "source water"). Complete reports were distributed to municipalities, water suppliers, local planning agencies, and PADEP offices. Full reports can be reviewed at the PADEP Southcentral Regional Office Records Management Unit at (717)705-4708.
We have completed a comprehensive Source Water Protection Plan to safeguard our high-quality water supply for all customers. This plan received PADEP approval in May 2008 and copies are available for review at our municipal offices and various community locations.
